Construction Alerts

Construction schedule: Week of 5/17/2026

NOTABLE ACTIVITIES

  • Tower Crane #2 Installation – Red River Partial Closure – Beginning May 31 at 10:00 PM
Red River (between the Fairmont entrance and 3rd Street) will be closed beginning Sunday, May 31 at 10:00 PM and will remain closed through June 4 to support the installation of our second tower crane.  This will require overnight work on Sunday night, May 31 only, to set up the crane used to assemble the tower crane.  The tower crane assembly will happen during normal daytime hours from June 1 to June 4.

ONGOING WORK

  • Saturday–Sunday, May 16–17 – Weekend Work Hours
Excavation and hauling activities are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM to help keep the project on schedule, reduce the overall duration of construction impacts, and support ongoing concrete operations.

    Monday–Friday, May 18–22 – Weekday Work Hours
Excavation and hauling activities will run from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM to help keep the project on schedule, reduce the overall duration of construction impacts, and support ongoing concrete operations.

These hours fall within the City’s allowable extended construction window, which permits activity from 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM. Weekend work hours will remain unchanged, with operations limited to 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Noise & Mitigation Efforts

We recognize the inconvenience of construction activity for our neighbors and remain committed to implementing and refining mitigation measures. Current and expanded efforts include:

  • Use of sound blankets and localized equipment shielding
  • Ongoing noise monitoring, including decibel tracking to ensure compliance with City thresholds
  • Limiting higher-impact activities during evening hours where feasible
  • Evaluating additional mitigation strategies as work progresses

Traffic plan around the redevelopment site

During construction, a traffic control plan ensures access and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling between east and west in the Convention Center area. A defined truck route will minimize traffic impact with a one-way path for trucks.
