Monday, Sept. 28 & Friday, Oct. 2: Concrete Work (12:00 AM Setup / 1:00 AM Placement)
Concrete pump setup will begin at approximately 12:00 AM, with concrete placement expected to begin around 1:00 AM and continue for approximately 6 hours.
All other concrete operations will follow their typical schedule, with concrete pumps and shotcrete compressors arriving at approximately 5:00 AM for setup. Concrete pumping is expected to begin around 6:00 AM and continue for several hours, with concrete trucks arriving throughout the morning.
All equipment will remain within the excavation, with sound blankets installed where feasible to help minimize noise. The project team will continue monitoring sound levels throughout these operations to help reduce impacts. Concrete trucks will access the site via northbound Trinity Street.
Covered Walkway Removal & Pedestrian Route
Crews are planning to remove the covered pedestrian walkway along Cesar Chavez Street to align with nearby roadway improvements. Once the walkway is removed, pedestrian traffic will be redirected to the south side of Cesar Chavez. The removal is expected to take no more than two days.

These hours fall within the City’s allowable extended construction window, which permits weekday activity from 6:00 AM to 10:30 PM.
PLEASE NOTE: Nearby Construction Activity – Red River Improvements
The City of Austin and DPR Construction continue roadway and sidewalk improvements near the intersection of Red River Street and Cesar Chavez Street. Northbound Red River Street will remain open throughout construction. Temporary southbound lane closures and pedestrian route adjustments will continue as work progresses. Please follow posted signs and traffic control devices when traveling through the area.

During construction, a traffic control plan ensures access and safety for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling between east and west in the Convention Center area. A defined truck route will minimize traffic impact with a one-way path for trucks.
Updated regularly, the AMANDA Work Zones Map shows all street closures and closure dates in the Austin area, including closures related to the Convention Center redevelopment.
