The new Austin Convention Center is redefining Austin’s future while remaining rooted in the city’s past. As part of the redevelopment and expansion, the Historic Trask House and Kitchen is moving to the grounds of the Convention Center and will be a programmable space.

The Trask House is one of the few remaining 1850s buildings still in existence in Austin and Travis County. A Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, recipient of the Austin Heritage Society Award, and City of Austin Landmark, the Trask House is a rare example of an antebellum, single-family home with a detached kitchen—possibly the only remaining one within Austin’s original townsite boundaries—made of limestone rubble masonry in the Greek Revival style.
This move brings the Trask House close to its original location and remains in the same historical district.
