Site Progress

The Austin Convention Center redevelopment is moving forward, with demolition now more than 50% complete. But this project goes far beyond tearing down old walls. It’s about building a smarter, more sustainable future.

Crews are carefully removing, storing—and in many cases—restoring materials for reuse. In fact, we’re on track to recycle an estimated 80–90% of materials from the original facility.

  • Structural steel is being reused to reduce waste and the need for new materials.
  • Pohl metal panels will be cleaned, restored, and reused.
  • Jamie Carpenter’s iconic blue art glass will be removed and stored until it’s repurposed in its new home.

These are just a few early steps toward meeting our ambitious sustainability goals—and we’re only getting started.
