The Design Development Phase for the new Convention Center is now 60% complete—a major milestone that brings the vision closer to reality. The process started with early concept ideas and schematic layouts, and plans are now being refined to ensure the building is functional, welcoming, and future-ready.

The demolition is now 80% complete. Check out the street level progress in the timelapse videos below.

Sustainability is a top priority, and we’re on track to achieve LEED Certification. As part of the certification process, the work is focused on salvaging, recycling, and repurposing materials from the original facility that would have gone to the landfill.

Some of the materials include:

  • Structural steel is being evaluated for reuse to reduce waste and the need for new materials.
  • Pohl metal panels will be cleaned, restored, and reused.
  • Jamie Carpenter’s iconic blue art glass will be removed and stored until it’s repurposed in its new home.

These are just a few early steps toward meeting our ambitious sustainability goals—and we’re only getting started.

Stay tuned in to our progress
